In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Hotties
I'm going to devote this post to a subject in which I'm highly qualified to discuss: hotties.

OK, not really. I know nothing about hotties. This post is actually about hot tea. Specifically, hot tea with milk. And more specifically, hot tea with soy milk. While sneaking around the kitchen at work, I observed my otherwise ordinary co-workers prepairing cups of tea and pouring milk into it. I've never understood this phenomenon (with "never" being until I realized that I used to drink milk tea with pearls fairly regularily). Anyway, I've always wondered how tea tastes with milk so I tried it this morning. Except I used soy milk. Here is the result of my experiment: it tastes like tea with soy milk. Not very eventful at all. The tea, normally being a fairly thin fluid was now a thick, milky liquid. Drinking it felt like I had too much drink in my mouth. I don't expect tea to fill up my mouth so quickly.

Anyway, I don't know why I felt like sharing that. Drinking soy milk with tea does strange things to me, apparently.
Vive El Democracy
Ahh, it's election day. This is quite possibly one of my favorite times of the year because I get to put my greasy fingerprints on someone else's computer and be able to call myself a patriot for it.

I was really impressed with CNN's website today. Their "Balance of Power" infographic on the main page really quenches my thirst for immediate information, even if it is full of "projections" by CNN and is possibly wrong. I think it was a great way to present the races, especially given the possibility of the houses of Congress falling to another party.

I also like that they devoted the whole front page to election day stories. This morning there was a neat article with interesting facts about the elections. Unfortunately, I can't find the article and I don't remember any of the facts except that I was amused by the article and that our friend Arnold was mentioned a few times. Kudos to CNN for providing great coverage of this mid-term election.

Probably the most important election day article to grace the front page of CNN is the news that Britney Spears is filing for divorce from Mr. Britney Spears (also known as Kevin "K-Fed who can't rap and should stop trying" Federline).

The fact that this article appears on the front page amongst the rest of CNN's election day coverage shows how important it is to get out and vote. The collapse of Britney and Kevin's two-year-long marriage underscores the frailness of our society and how, by voting, we can protect future generations of pop star/backup dancer unions from untimely demise. So there are still a few hours left until the polls close. Please, if you are a registered voter and haven't yet voted, go out there and vote. It only takes a few moments of your time (unless you get distracted by something shiny nearby). It is your civic duty as a citizen of the United States of America to make sure Sean Preston and Jayden James grow up to know the importance of their role in America.

I love democracy. I love the Republic. And rest assured that the power you give me I will lay down once this crisis has abated. Until then, I'll make a grand army of coffee beans to counter the the increasing threat from sleepiness. I'm bloody tired.
